Its not often you imagine you'd find on-point and inventive fashion coming out of Cornwall. That however is exactly whats occurring in the form of Falmouth University fashion graduate Alex Claydon. Currently residing in Cornwall, Alex took part in the recent Falmouth graduates fashion show and subsequent event in Brick Lane, which is where we got a glimpse of his first adventurous collection.
Bold, baggy and definitely different, his collection is influenced by the 80's 90's and sportswear, although Alex has stated this is not to be taken too literally. We
love the boldness of his designs and that fact he isn't scared to divert from the mainstream.
Fashion today can sometimes be lacking in original thought and drive, but Alex has taken concepts at polar opposites and brought them together, a daring move that could easily have not worked, but something he's pulled it off with gusto! We especially love his use of Tetris like large pixelated numbering and his reference to Moschino print combo's from the 90's.
Alex is looking to relocate to London and exhibits the drive needed to become a force to be reckoned with. He told us "My dream is to have my own London based namesake label, but for now I'm setting my sights on really exploring all aspects of the industry".
We wish Alex all the best and look forward to seeing his name and career grow within the industry.
